Understanding Spider Bites: Are They Deadly or Not?
Although not all spider bites are venomous and deadly, there are a
handful of these species that can really cause considerable damage to
humans once they are bitten and are not given medical attention
immediately. And although we may not be spider experts, it could be
extremely helpful if we know even just the basic sign, symptoms and
physiology of a spider bite. So for those who are interested in knowing
about this, then here is some basic information that could really be of
big help in the future.
The biggest concern when it comes to spider bites is the kind of venom
that the victim may be infected with. Although there are only a very few
spiders who may have venoms that can cause damage to humans, there are
venom types that may be life threatening once injected to a victim. This
is the very reason why it is recommended that spider bites victims take
along the dead body of the spider (if there is) or get a good
description of the spider that bit him. Spider venom can either target
your nervous system (neurotoxic) or destroy the tissues surrounding the
bite area and even the vital organs of the body.
So again, keep in mind that treatments of spider bites vary, depending
on the kind of venom that you are infected with. Most spider bites which
are not venomous s all may simply require treatment for the bit area but
some who do contain venom should be given immediate medical attention.
Patients who do get venomous spider bites usually experienced prolonged
pain and increased swelling and redness in the area even several hours
after he has been bit. If this is so, then bring the victim straight to
a medical facility and be ready to give details on the kind of spider
that bit him, or better yet, bring the body of the insect along with you
to the clinic.
So never underestimate spider bites but do not think of them as
something to be feared as well. Just like any other animal, spiders only
bite when they feel threatened. Some or many of them are even harmless,
barely having mouth parts strong enough to wound human skin. So what is
left for you to do is to stay away from dark or damp areas where spiders
may be hiding. And if you do find one hiding in the attic or some
corner, avoid contact as much as possible or just take them outside the
house with a stick with the proper protective gear such as a glove.
